The Cleveland Browns are reportedly set to make a quarterback change after their 1-3 start to the season.
The Browns have decided to bench Joe Flacco and start rookie Dillon Gabriel in Week 5, according to Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports.
Coach Kevin Stefanski had hinted at the move on Monday. When asked about Flacco’s job status, he ducked the question and said the Browns were evaluating everyone, which is usually a pretty good signal that the quarterback’s job was not safe.
#Browns HC Kevin Stefanski will not commit to Joe Flacco continuing to start at QB. His only comment:

“It’s not just about one person.”
Flacco did little to demonstrate that he deserved to keep the job through four games. He threw only two touchdown passes and was intercepted six times. He went just 16/34 against the Detroit Lions in Week 4 and threw for fewer than 200 yards in each of the last three games. Browns fans had already lost faith in him as well.
Gabriel will be the next man up for Cleveland after they selected him in the third round of April’s draft. Is Gabriel struggles as well, many will wonder if Shedeur Sanders should get a shot. That probably would include Sanders himself based on some of his recent comments.
