Baker Mayfield and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers dropped their second-straight game in Week 11, falling to 6-4 on the 2025 NFL season after a 44-32 loss to Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills. Now, the Bucs will turn their attention to Week 12, looking to get back on track as they hit the road to face the Los Angeles Rams on "Sunday Night Football."
Mayfield had a solid outing in the Week 11 loss, completing 16-of-28 passes for 173 yards, a touchdown and an interception, while adding 39 yards and another score on the ground. But it paled in comparison to Allen’s performance, as he accounted for six total touchdowns, including three passing and three rushing.
While Mayfield and the Buccaneers begin preparation for an important NFC matchup against the Rams, head coach Todd Bowles revealed that there was an illness going around that has impacted the team.
"We've done the same thing the last two years," Bowles said. "Unfortunately, this Wednesday, a lot of people have taken ill. There is a bug going around the building and we had about five coaches and 15 players down... So there's nothing we can really do about that."
Sure enough, on Wednesday, the illness affected six players’ ability to practice, including Mayfield, who was listed as a limited participant. Other Bucs players limited by the illness included wide receiver Emeka Egbuka, center Graham Barton, guard Dan Feeney, tackle Luke Goedeke and defensive end Logan Hall.
"Bucs QB Baker Mayfield and WR Emeka Egbuka were among six players who were limited in practice today because of an illness," NFL Network's Tom Pelissero wrote on X.
