The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are searching for offensive consistency, but Week 7 could present another significant challenge. Emeka Egbuka missed Wednesday’s practice while dealing with concussion and foot injuries, putting his availability against Carolina in question.

Egbuka’s potential absence would create another obstacle for an offense trying to establish its rhythm. Tampa Bay could lose one of its most heavily targeted receivers just as the passing game looks to regain momentum.

Egbuka’s Absence Could Shift Targets to Godwin and Hurst

Egbuka is coming off a game in which he received 16 targets against Pittsburgh. That workload demonstrated his growing importance to Tampa Bay’s passing attack, making his potential absence particularly significant.

If Egbuka cannot play, Chris Godwin and rookie Ted Hurst could see expanded opportunities. Their involvement would become especially important if Baker Mayfield returns under center against the Panthers.

Without Egbuka, Tampa Bay could struggle to maintain the same distribution of targets. Offensive coordinator Zac Robinson would need to adjust the passing attack while ensuring Godwin and Hurst can handle additional responsibilities.

Concussion Protocol Creates Uncertainty for Week 7

According to the official injury report released by Buccaneers Communications, Egbuka is dealing with concussion and foot injuries. The development is unexpected because he did not appear to leave Sunday’s overtime loss to Pittsburgh with a head injury.

Egbuka finished that game with seven receptions for 48 yards and a touchdown on 16 targets. The Buccaneers have not clarified when his concussion was identified, leaving his availability for Sunday uncertain.

Egbuka must progress through the NFL’s concussion protocol before receiving clearance to return. His foot injury adds another variable, although the severity has not been established.

If Egbuka cannot play, Tampa Bay will need contributions from its remaining receivers. Godwin and Hurst could benefit from additional targets, but replacing Egbuka’s involvement will remain a challenge for an offense seeking consistency.
