According to reports, the option guarantees Kancey $14.475 million for the 2027 campaign, reinforcing the team’s long-term investment in its interior defensive line.
Kancey’s career has been impacted by injuries since entering the league in 2023. Most notably, he was placed on injured reserve on September 17 with a torn pectoral muscle that initially required what was believed to be season-ending surgery. However, he made a surprising return for the Buccaneers’ final game of the season.
The 25-year-old also dealt with calf injuries early in both his rookie season and the 2024 campaign. Despite those setbacks, he finished strong in 2024, recording 7.5 sacks over the final 12 games.
