While Buccaneers first-round pick Emeka Egbuka impressed in his inaugural offseason, he’s not the only newcomer expected to make a swift impact on the team.
The Buccaneers drafted cornerbacks Benjamin Morrison and Jacob Parrish in the second and third rounds, respectively. GM Jason Licht expressed optimism on the Sports Day Tampa Bay podcast, suggesting the rookies have impressed enough to potentially join Zyon McCollum as key contributors in the secondary this season.
“Those guys have been equally as impressive,” Licht stated. “It’s been fun to watch. I don’t want to already stamp them, but we feel very, very good about them helping us out a lot this year. Plus Zyon’s having an amazing offseason as well, so there’s not going to be — Very few teams, I think, have three young corners with that much talent right now.”
With Jamel Dean also part of the mix, this talented group of corners will be crucial to the Buccaneers’ quest for a fifth consecutive division title. Add in these rookies with Zyon McCollum and this is arguably the best group of young corners in the league.
