Buccaneers’ Goedeke Could Miss ‘Multiple Weeks’

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are now 2-0 after a nail-biting 20-19 win over the Houston Texans on Monday Night Football. However, the victory was tempered by some injuries, including starting right tackle Luke Goedeke, who departed the game early.

Goedeke’s night was cut short as he reaggravated a pre-existing foot injury, forcing him to leave the game early. The outlook isn’t promising – the team expects Goedeke to miss several games, adding to Tampa Bay’s growing injury concerns.

Via ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler,

“Bucs RT Luke Goedeke avoided major injury Monday night but is expected to miss time, possibly multiple weeks, per sources. The belief is that Goedeke re-aggravated a foot injury he battled during the practice week.”

Goedeke, a second-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, has quickly become a vital cog in Tampa Bay’s offensive line. After making the switch from guard to tackle, he took a significant leap forward, solidifying his spot as a cornerstone of the Buccaneers’ future.

Goedeke inked a four-year, $90 million extension with the Buccaneers just before the season, locking him up through 2029. With Tristan Wirfs already signed through the same year, Tampa Bay has secured a formidable foundation on the left and right sides of their O-line for years to come.

The Buccaneers’ tackles are dealing with injuries, with Tristan Wirfs recovering from offseason knee surgery and Luke Goedeke set to miss time after aggravating a foot injury in their last game. Fortunately, Goedeke avoided a serious injury that would have required a longer recovery period. He’s expected to miss at least a couple of weeks, while Wirfs is targeting a Week 5 return after beginning practice last week. This means the Buccaneers will have to rely on backup tackles, with Charlie Heck stepping in for Goedeke. Despite these setbacks, the team’s O-line has shown resilience.
