Buccaneers Have 'No Complaints' Over 'Competitive' Emeka Egbuka

The life of a rookie can be a little tough, but for Tampa Bay Buccaneers first-round receiver Emeka Egbuka, he's taken everything in his stride.

Coming to an offense that has weapons the envy of the league with Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, Jalen McMillan and Cade Otton, Egbuka might have a hard time getting snaps.

So he has to show that he deserves them, and in training camp, he's doing just that.

“Just how calm he is with everything because he's so intelligent, he's very competitive, and he wants to do things right all the time," head coach Todd Bowles said. "I tell him he don't have to do everything right just play football, and he's been very good at that. He's playing faster, and he looks like the guy we drafted. I have no complaints.”

That isn't the first time we have heard someone in the Buccaneers organization talk of Emeka's intelligence, and the rookie is going about his business with aplomb as he looks to make a name for himself in Year 1.

Granted, it might not all be smooth sailing for the former Ohio State stud, but he's got star veterans around him and a quarterback in Baker Mayfield who has seen everything in the game to lean on.

The life of a rookie can be up and down, but in Egbuka's case, he's already hitting his stride in Josh Grizzard's offense, and he looms as one of the most dynamic weapons at Mayfield's disposal.

And when you make the head coach sit up and take notice, you know you're doing something right.
