Buccaneers Lose KJ Britt, Sign Replacement

On Thursday, the Miami Dolphins announced they signed former Tampa Bay Buccaneers linebacker K.J. Britt to a one-year deal.

The 25-year-old is a former fifth-round pick of the Bucs from the 2021 NFL Draft and appeared in 59 games with 15 starts. He made 11 starts last season for the team.

His best season came last year with 72 total tackles with two for loss and was credited with a half-sack. He also contributed to special teams on about a third of the plays.

The Bucs didn't look long to replace Britt.

Also on Thursday, Tampa Bay and general manager Jason Licht agreed to a one-year deal for linebacker Anthony Walker. Britt and Walker have basically swapped teams.

Walker made eight starts in 14 appearances for the Dolphins last year with 68 tackles, one sack, one interception and two passes defended. 

The Buccaneers also kept one of their own in Lavonte David, who is the vocal leader of the defense, on a one-year deal after he contemplated retirement.

SirVocea Dennis is still under contract for Tampa Bay through 2026 on a four-year deal worth just over $4 million.
