Prior to the 2023 season, Baker Mayfield appeared to be running out of opportunities in the NFL. After being traded by the Cleveland Browns to the Carolina Panthers ahead of the 2022 campaign, Mayfield was later released and finished the season with a brief stint alongside the Los Angeles Rams.

Everything changed in 2023 when he signed a one-year contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The move revitalized Mayfield’s career, helping him lead Tampa Bay to a playoff victory during the 2023 season before following it up with a 40-touchdown campaign in 2024. Now, another contract extension could be on the horizon this offseason.

Mayfield’s production on the field, combined with his outspoken personality, has turned him into one of the league’s more popular quarterbacks in recent years — and one media company is now capitalizing on that popularity.

Netflix has already released two seasons of its behind-the-scenes NFL series Quarterback, and a third installment is set to premiere this July.

The upcoming season will follow four NFL quarterbacks throughout the 2025 campaign, including none other than Baker Mayfield himself.

Netflix cameras followed Mayfield throughout the Buccaneers’ 2025 season. They captured moments both inside and outside the facility. The finished product is expected to provide an entertaining behind-the-scenes look at the veteran quarterback.

Mayfield, entering his third season as Tampa Bay’s starter, delivered another productive campaign by throwing for 3,693 yards and 26 touchdowns. Across his three years with the Buccaneers, he has totaled 12,237 passing yards and 95 touchdown passes. This ranks him third in the NFL in passing yards and second in touchdown throws during that span.

Baker Mayfield: QB1

Mayfield will be one of four quarterbacks spotlighted in the upcoming season of Quarterback. He is joined by Jayden Daniels of the Washington Commanders, Cam Ward of the Tennessee Titans and Joe Flacco of the Cincinnati Bengals.

The series will document the 2025 NFL season, which proved to be a rollercoaster year for Mayfield and the Buccaneers. Tampa Bay opened the campaign with a 6-2 record, earning impressive victories over the Houston Texans, San Francisco 49ers and eventual Seattle Seahawks Super Bowl champions.

However, the season unraveled as injuries began to pile up for Mayfield. One of the most significant came against the Los Angeles Rams. In that game he injured his non-throwing shoulder and was forced to miss part of the game. His performance declined as the season progressed, and the Buccaneers ultimately fell short of a playoff berth.

The show could provide fans with a closer look at the challenges Tampa Bay faced during the year. They will also see the physical issues Mayfield battled through behind the scenes. He finished the season with 3,693 passing yards, 26 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.
