Buccaneers' Quarterback Baker Mayfield Named Offensive MVP of 2024 Pro Bowl Games
USA TODAY Sports

Tampa Bay Buccaneers' quarterback Baker Mayfield was a late addition to the NFC squad for this year's Pro Bowl Games, but he immediately made his impact known as he went on to win the precision passing competition on Thursday. Baker continued his level of play into the flag football game on Sunday helping lead the NFC to their second consecutive win against the AFC squad and was able to pick up the Offensive MVP trophy to go along with it.

"A lot of guys made plays today," Mayfield said. "It was honestly so much fun. I got to watch the whole first half, stay a little loose a little bit, stay involved and take advantage of the opportunities. I'm just happy to be here."

The stats for Mayfield weren't eye-popping by any means as the game is played on a shortened 50-yard playing field, but he was able to go 9/13 for 102 yards while throwing two touchdowns.

Being named the offensive MVP of the Pro Bowl Games is just cumulative of what Baker was able to accomplish during his first season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. After being doubted leading up to the season, Mayfield went on to have the best season of his NFL career - posting career highs in passing yards (4,044) and touchdown passes (28) as he led the Bucs to their third consecutive NFC South title before going on to defeat the Eagles in the Wild Card round of the playoffs.

Baker is now set to become a free agent, and it looks like both the Bucs' organization and Mayfield are interested in coming to an agreement on a long-term contract now that he knows who will be in his ear calling plays in 2024 with the hiring of Liam Coen as the new OC.
