Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady hoping 2021 will be his 'best year'

Fresh off his seventh Super Bowl victory, Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady has high expectations for himself entering the 2021 season.

Brady recently told Peter King for his "Football Morning in America" column that he hopes this season, his 22nd in the NFL, will be his best. However, the 44-year-old typically has that mentality every season.

"I love playing football," Brady said. [Offensive coordinator] Byron Leftwich said something really good the other day: It's a very simple game that's so hard to execute. It's a totally imperfect game that you're trying to do as perfectly as possible. Every day I come out trying to do it. I'm hoping this is my best year."

Brady's goal isn't so farfetched. He played the 2020 season with new coaches, teammates, playbook and a torn MCL. He capped off the year with his seventh Super Bowl title.

This year, Brady is healthier, knows the Buccaneers playbook better and is more prepared to make another run to the Super Bowl.

While Brady wants the 2021 season to be his best, though, he stopped short of predicting that, saying, "That's a prediction and I'm not for that. I'm into doing the work. Is the process gonna be right? I'm gonna work my a-- off to get it right."

If Brady wants the 2021 season to be his best, he'll have to eclipse the numbers he put up last season, which won't be easy. The California native completed 65.7% of his passes for 4,633 yards and 40 touchdowns against 12 interceptions.

Still, the Buccaneers brought most of their players from the Super Bowl-winning squad back this season, so Brady accomplishing his goals certainly isn't out of the question, especially because he has one of the best offenses in the NFL.
