Baker Mayfield and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers came out victorious during their Week 5 Sunday clash with the Seattle Seahawks at Lumen Field, winning 38-35 thanks to a 39-yard game-winning field goal as time expired. The Buccaneers moved to 4-1 with the victory, while the Seahawks fell to 3-2 on the year.
Mayfield easily had his best game of the young season, outdueling 2018 NFL Draft classmate Sam Darnold. The former Oklahoma quarterback completed 29-of-33 (87.7%) passes for 379 yards and two touchdowns in a win that led to the Bucs becoming the first team in NFL history to secure four victories by three or fewer points, according to AP.
Aside from securing the huge win for Tampa Bay, who sit atop the NFC South, Mayfield also made some NFL history with his performance. As announced by CBS Sports, Mayfield became the first quarterback to ever have 375 or more passing yards and fewer than five completions in a regular-season game.
As a result of the team's huge win and Mayfield's historic performance, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' social media team made sure to honor the quarterback on X.
"It's safe to say this man is BAKING ," wrote the Bucs.
