Buccaneers Tackle Named To CBS Sports ‘All-Bargain Team’

Categorizing NFL players can be done in countless ways, but Buccaneers players often get overlooked. Metrics like performance, salary, age, and future projections are commonly used to create tiers, rankings, or spark debate. However, personal opinions often introduce bias into these analyses, a phenomenon even prominent sports media outlets like ESPN frequently employ.

But then there’s outlets that seem to stick to facts, like CBS Sports did here

CBS Sports recently assembled an “All-Bargain Team” that considered both player performance and contract value. Based on Peter Prisco’s NFL top 100 rankings, this hypothetical team highlighted players who delivered exceptional results at a cost-effective price.

Tristan Wirfs was the sole Buccaneer to make CBS Sports’ “All-Bargain Team“, earning recognition as a First Team All-Pro left tackle. Weird there’s no Baker Mayfield on this list, but baby steps for the national media I suppose.

Wirfs made Prisco’s top 100 players list at number 20, earning him a spot on his “All-Bargain” squad, as highlighted in the article.

“This is where we had to get a little picky, because there aren’t a ton of above-average left tackles who haven’t been rewarded with high-end contracts. Wirfs, however, is certainly under-market for 2025, fresh off his first All-Pro nod at the position. Still just 26, he’s now given Pro Bowl-level protection to both Tom Brady and Baker Mayfield in Tampa, successfully transitioning from the right side a few years back.”

Wirfs’ 2025 cap hit of $11.5 million makes him a bargain for the Bucs, but that’s only because he’s still on his rookie contract. However, Buccaneers fans can breathe a sigh of relief – Wirfs is locked up long-term. Last August, he signed a 5-year, $140 million extension, guaranteeing him $88.24 million – the highest guarantee for any offensive tackle at the time.
