Under Liam Coen, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ offense was elite last season. With Baker Mayfield at the helm and a talented supporting cast, including Mike Evans, Jalen McMillan, Bucky Irving, Rachaad White, and tight end Cade Otton, the team was a formidable force.
With Coen now leading the Jaguars in Jacksonville, passing game coordinator Josh Grizzard takes the reins as the primary playcaller and Mayfield’s top voice.
As the Buccaneers’ OTAs progress, tight end Cade Otton is optimistic that Josh Grizzard can take the offense to the next level.
“We were a really good offense last year but we still have room to improve and I think he’s going to do whatever it takes to get us there,” Otton stated.
Building on last season’s success will be a challenge, given the Buccaneers’ impressive stats: 29.5 points per game (4th in the league) and 146.5 rushing yards per game (5th), with Baker Mayfield enjoying a career year with 4,500 yards and 41 touchdowns.
If Grizzard can take the offense to the next level, the Buccaneers will be a legitimate Super Bowl contender.
Otton had a breakout season, finishing with 59 receptions for 600 yards and four touchdowns. Despite injuries affecting the offense, Otton stepped up, highlighted by a three-game stretch where he saw 10+ targets and gained 77+ yards, scoring three touchdowns before additional help arrived.
In his fourth season, Otton is poised to play a key role in helping new OC Josh Grizzard build on the Buccaneers’ already potent offense from last year.
