Bucs Creating Tight Running Back Dynamic As ‘Blessing’

We often hear about the relationships within a locker room and how they are pivotal to a team's success, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have quite the running back room that thrives on the success of each individual.

Rachaad White was the starter entering the 2024 season, with rookie Bucky Irving as his backup, but it became apparent rather quickly that this was going to be Bucky's show.

So he was elevated and White was relegated, and when that happens, tensions can rise and things can get a little sticky. But they didn't.

However, what about now as Irving enters Year 2 as the undisputed starter of Josh Grizzard's team? Nope, it's status quo for Ivring and White.

“That type of stuff we won't let get between our relationship,” Irving said. “We both out there, we got a role on this team. But that's just a guy that always been the same since I got here. He was always there for me, and in this profession, you always got to have somebody that have your back.

"We [are] tight, we won't let all the outside noise interfere with our relationship. Just going out there knowing somebody have your back, we going to compete for one another each time that we step out there in the field. It's a blessing to have somebody like that.”

That shows us how the chemistry and relationships forged in battle can withstand anything.

This situation could have been a rather uncomfortable one, but Irving and White know this is a business, and both will get their lick of the ice cream. So instead of fighting over who gets what reps, both are doing this together and helping each other become better.

And that is a big reason for Tampa Bay's stellar run game last season. There were no egos, but players who wanted what's best for the team.

It appears that any perceived tension from outside the building is nothing more than hot air.

With Irving and White a duo that won't be easily broken up.
