Stop if you've heard this one before: Another Tampa Bay Buccaneers player is dealing with an injury that will keep him out for a few weeks, at the least.
That's the case with reserve safety and special teamer Rashad Wisdom, who injured his quad against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 4. Wisdom will head to short-term IR, where he'll miss the next four games, at minimum.
The Bucs have been absolutely racked with injuries this year. So much to the point where Todd Bowles literally told reporters the team had to have a walkthrough instead of a heavy practice on Wednesday because there are more players who can't practice than can practice.
Regardless, the Bucs swiped undrafted rookie safety Sebastian Castro from the AFC North-leading Pittsburgh Steelers' practice squad to replace Wisdom. As a result, he'll join the Bucs' 53-man roster for at least the next three weeks. It might not be the splashiest signing in the world, but you never know when a depth player will step up in the right moment and make a play.
"Sebastian Castro was a favorite of many in the draft community in 2025. The former Iowa Hawkeye had an outstanding Senior Bowl, and some were surprised he went undrafted before signing with the Steelers. He was talked about at times during camp, but there was never enough splash in preseason games or, as Mike Tomlin would say, "in-stadium ventures" to justify him making the 53-man roster.
"But the Steelers are deep at safety. They have a ton of interchangeable parts and veterans at their disposal, relegating Castro to the practice squad. Tampa, on the other hand, is lean at safety outside of their starting duo. Castro will offer insurance as a rallying player from depth, but he shouldn't be counted or relied on to play a ton of coverage in the NFL." - Rob Gregson, A to Z Pittsburgh
Castro racked up four interceptions and 18 pass break-ups during his time at Iowa, as well as 163 tackles, 2.0 sacks, five forced fumbles, and 14 tackles. He's a tough, physical player that should be able to contribute on special teams while he learns the Bucs defense.
