The Tampa Bay Buccaneers' injury issues are going from ridiculous to surreal, it appears, and that's particularly the case when it comes to their cornerback room.

Bucs starting outside cornerback Zyon McCollum was spotted by local media at practice on Wednesday afternoon with a cast on his wrist/forearm area and his arm in a sling.

The cast appears around the wrist/thumb area, and it's worth noting that McCollum was listed on the practice report last week with a thumb issue, so it could be related to that same issue. It's worth noting that Wednesday's practice was a walkthrough, so the practice participation will be estimated on the practice report.

McCollum played in all 60 defensive snaps on Sunday in Seattle. He allowed 3 catches on 4 targets for 56 yards and a touchdown, according to Pro Fotoball Focus.

The Bucs can ill afford to lose another player in the secondary at this point. Jamel Dean, Benjamin Morrison, and Christian Izien all missed the game in Seattle, and their statuses will clearly be worth monitoring throughout the week as the Bucs continue preparations for San Francisco in what has shaped up to be a key clash between two of the top teams in the NFC.

The Bucs and 49ers get underway on Sunday at 4:25 pm ET from Raymond James Stadium in Tampa.

UPDATE: Todd Bowles said that McCollum underwent a procedure for his thumb and that he will see how he feels at the end of the week as far as his chances of playing.
