The city of Indianapolis is filled with some of the biggest stars in the world this week with the NBA's All-Star Weekend being held in Indianapolis, Indiana.
We saw an NFL star take home the celebrity game MVP in Dallas Cowboy's edge rusher Micah Parsons.
But if the current Indianapolis Colts had to build a starting five on the basketball court, who would it be?
To run the point, I wanted a player who could set the pace for the team and make the right decisions. Colts QB Anthony Richardson is my pick; outside of the obvious about him being the QB and his passing skills, he is arguably the best athlete on the entire Colts roster. And to go even further, he tested as the greatest athlete ever to play the QB position according to RAS.football. Richardson will be able to move up and down the court well, and with his size and athleticism, he should be able to attack the rim with ease.

For the other guard spot, I chose WR Alec Pierce to pair with Richardson. He is also one of the best athletes on the team; he scored a 9.83 RAS. Pierce and grew up playing volleyball and basketball, so I think he would have a natural jump shot. His size and speed should translate well to the court and allow the team to push the pace, and he should be able to stretch the floor and jump out of the gym.
You are probably sensing a trend with my first three picks, but at the SF position, I selected TE Jelani Woods, one of the best overall athletes on the Colts' roster. At the time of his NFL Draft process, he tested as the most athletic TE of all time. He was topped last year, though, by Zack Kuntz out of Old Dominion, so now he sits at a whopping 9.99 RAS. Woods moves well at his size, and I think he would offer a great balance of size and speed. I could see him having a decent shot to stretch the floor, but I think he would punish others down low to form a dynamic trio with the next two players to allow the Colts to dominate the paint.
Picking Mo Alie-Cox was the easiest decision of this entire list because he played college basketball at VCU. Where he scored over 1,000 points. Some may be shocked that I put Alie-Cox at the PF and Woods at the SF positions because Woods is two inches taller. But Alie-Cox doesn't move as well as Woods does at his size, and I think Alie-Cox would be more comfortable in this position.
And to round out the squad, I have DT DeForest Buckner. Buckner is tied for being one of the tallest players on the Colts roster at 6'7". With Woods already on the team at the SF position, I went with Buckner, who, on top of his height, has long arms that would allow him to impact shots at the rim. With the rest of this team ready to run other teams off the floor, it was important to pick a player who had size but also could move well to keep up with the others, and I think Buckner is the perfect fit.
