Caleb Williams Breaks Silence On Viral Ben Johnson Prank

Caleb Williams isn't holding any grudges after last week's viral Ben Johnson prank — but he's definitely changing his number.

After the Bears rookie quarterback fell for a text message (and FaceTime) from a group of kids posing as the Lions offensive coordinator and top head coaching candidate, Williams went on the "St. Brown Podcast" and revealed that it was actually Detroit receiver Amon-Ra who played a role in him getting catfished.

"I reached out to Amon-Ra, and I asked [him] for Ben's number, I wasn't going to save his number because he's not our coach or anything like that. I wasn't going to text him or anything, I was asking because I wanted to make sure it was his actual number. Amon-Ra does Amon-Ra things, and he doesn't text back," Williams explained.

"He [Williams] texted me and said 'What's Ben's number? I got these random dudes trying to hit me up saying they're Ben,'" St. Brown chimed in. "So I said [expletive] outta here, Ben is not coming to Chicago. I was eating dinner so I didn't answer my phone, 20 minutes later I see the text [from Williams] but it's too late, 'It's all good, I called but it wasn't him.' So I didn't put anything together, an hour later, I seen it on Twitter."

"I ain't gona' lie, it was a classic prank," the No. 1 pick admitted. "It was a grade A, S-tier prank. I gotta give them props. I wasn't locked in at the moment. ... I've had the number for probably 15 years. I don't have it no more. New number."

Williams should be happy to know that Chicago had a virtual interview with the real Ben Johnson over the weekend and is planning to have another once the Lions' season concludes.

And as far as St. Brown, he apologized for his role in the matter even if he got a good laugh out of it.
