Caleb Williams gets reality check from DJ Moore
Chicago Bears wide receiver DJ Moore (2) practices against the New Orleans Saints.

Former Chicago Bears wide receiver DJ Moore appears happy to be working with Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen months after miscommunication with Caleb Williams led to an interception in overtime of a 20-17 loss to the Los Angeles Rams.

During an appearance with Kyle Brandt of the NFL Network, the host asked Moore about his past working with quarterbacks like Baker Mayfield, Sam Darnold, Cam Newton, Allen, and Williams.

Moore noted how fun it was to play with Allen and Newton. He praised Darnold for winning a Super Bowl and noted Mayfield is a “fiery guy” that has had a good stint in the league.

As for Williams, Moore was terse on his analysis.

“He’s getting there,” Moore said of Williams.

After a follow-up question, Moore said Williams is still growing, giving the quarterback a reality check before his third season in the league despite receiving plenty of offseason hype.

“He’s still growing,” Moore said. “He’s an automatic superstar now, Madden cover. He’s on the up.”

Brandt asked Moore if it can be challenging for a player like Williams to deal with the pressure of living up to the hype after making miraculous throws at the end of the last season and the playoffs, leading to being the cover of Madden.

“I don’t know if it’s hard for him,” Moore said. I ain’t ever had to experience that, but kudos to him.”

The answers from Moore felt awkward to watch. It felt like Moore had something else he wanted to say, but kept his answers terse to avoid drama.

In April, Williams said he understood why the Bears had to trade Moore for business reasons, but said he “misses” the veteran receiver.

“You build up a relationship on a personal level and it sucks that he has to go,” Williams said, via Pro Football Talk. “I’m excited for him the rest of his career to see what he does.”

Maybe Moore feels differently about the trade to the Bills.
