There’s a lot of hype surrounding Caleb Williams and the Chicago Bears this season. The quarterback turned heads with his strong performances last year, leading the team to an NFC North title and reaching the Divisional Round. He was chosen as the cover athlete of NFL Madden 27, and news about it emerged on Thursday.
Williams and Co. will open their 2026 season on Sunday with a road matchup with the Carolina Panthers. In 2025, he completed 330-of-568 passes for 3,942 yards, 27 touchdowns and seven interceptions. However, he is hungrier this year and aims to surpass his production and guide the Bears to a deeper playoff run.
The franchise addressed positional needs in the offseason and bolstered the roster with key additions. Chicago is dealing with some injuries but is all set for the season opener.
An alternate cover for Madden 27 is circulating on social media. It shows Williams wearing a Bears jacket with Chicago’s world famous skyline on the background.

In June, EA Sports named the 24-year-old as the cover athlete. He is the second Bears player to receive the honor, with Roberto Garza featured in Madden NFL 09 en Español. Williams channeled his inner Michael Jordan is the first released cover, as his Jumpman pose paid homage to the NBA legend.
“That was the whole thing,” Williams said. “I was like, everybody knows the Air Jordan, the sunrise of him doing his Air Jordan with the skyline behind him,” Williams said. “I was like, I want to recreate it, football, bring it back 30 years later, however many years later. We did that one and this one (Iceman) obviously had to go in it. This had to go in it. This was a really cool photoshoot.”
Williams shined last year with clutch performances and leading his team to several comeback victories. More is expected from his in 2026, but he is looking forward to continue silencing his critics.
