New York Giants running back Cam Skattebo has been working hard in his rehab. The 23-year-old’s memorable rookie campaign came to an end in Week 8 after Skattebo suffered a season-ending ankle injury in a loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Skattebo underwent surgery to address a dislocated right ankle in late October. He recently shed his walking boot and is reportedly making significant progress toward being ready for the start of training camp.

There are going to be major changes for the Giants in Skattebo’s second season, with none bigger than with the coaching ranks. On Saturday, the team officially announced John Harbaugh as the new head coach.

Harbaugh immediately became the most sought-after head coach after he was fired by the Baltimore Ravens. The Super Bowl-winning coach parted ways with the Ravens after 18 years with the team.

The Giants emerged as one of Harbaugh’s landing spots, along with the Atlanta Falcons, Tennessee Titans and the Arizona Cardinals, to name a few. The Giants acted swiftly, though, even bringing in star quarterback Jaxson Dart in their meeting to convince Harbaugh to take the job.

Skattebo, who is expected to be a central figure for the franchise for many years to come, took to social media on Saturday night to share his reaction to the Harbaugh announcement.

“NEW F****** ERA,” Skattebo wrote, sharing the announcement post from the Giants.

The Giants finished the regular season with a 4-13 record for 15th in the NFC. It was a forgettable campaign for New York, but as Skattebo indicated in his post, Harbaugh’s arrival marks a new era in Giants football.

Skattebo, New York’s fourth-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, played eight games for the Giants before his season-ending injury. During that stretch, the 23-year-old registered 101 carries for 410 rushing yards and five touchdowns. The former Arizona State Sun Devils star also logged 24 catches for 207 yards and two receiving TDs.
