New York Giants running back Cam Skattebo exited his team’s Week 8 game against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday after he suffered what appeared to be a very serious injury.
Skattebo was injured when he was tackled while trying to catch a pass from Jaxson Dart midway through the second quarter at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pa. Eagles linebacker Zack Baun broke up a pass that was intended for Skattebo and dragged the rookie to the ground in the process.
Skattebo’s legs bent awkwardly underneath him and he appeared to be in immediate pain. His right ankle looked like it was facing the wrong direction.

Players were visibly distraught when they realized how bad the injury was. Dart could be seen shaking his head in disbelief.

Skattebo had his leg placed into an air cast and was carted off the field.
Skattebo has been having an outstanding rookie year. He was not heavily involved the first two weeks but had since established himself as the focal point of New York’s offense, especially after wide receiver Malik Nabers went down with a season-ending injury.
Entering Week 8, Skattebo had 398 rushing yards, 189 receiving yards and six total touchdowns. He has quickly become a fan favorite with the Giants, so any long-term absence could be devastating for the team.
