Cam Skattebo urges teammates to avoid dangerous mistake

New York Giants running back Cam Skattebo has built a reputation for his dangerous style of play, but off the field, he wants to be a beacon of safety for his teammates, at least.

Speaking to reporters while cleaning up his Giants locker on Monday, Skattebo said that he wants everyone on the team to be focused on the common goal of winning, and that involves being mindful of their actions even in the offseason.

“We have to have those tough conversations with each other, make sure that everything that we do in this building and out of this building is for this building,” the former Arizona State Sun Devils star said.

To help drive his point home, 23-year-old Skattebo offered an important reminder against drunk driving.

“We have to understand that if we go out and drink, we can’t be driving. That’s something that people get in trouble over in the offseason, and that’s something that we need to take [seriously].”

There is no denying the importance of what Skattebo said, and the Giants must be happy to hear such wisdom coming out of the mouth of one of their rising stars.

Skattebo has a lot of time on his hands to reflect on his young NFL career and future, as he continues to recover from surgery following the ankle injury he suffered in a Week 8 game against the Philadelphia Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pa.
