Jeremiyah Love entered the NFL with high expectations after the Arizona Cardinals selected him with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. Through his first five games, the rookie running back has shown why the team invested such a valuable selection in him.
Love quickly became a regular part of Arizona’s offense, starting four of his first five appearances. Arizona is coming off an 18-16 win over the Los Angeles Rams in Week 6. The Cardinals will return to action in Week 7 against the Denver Broncos, hoping to build on that result as they prepare for another challenging matchup.
However, head coach Mike LaFleur has confirmed that Love will miss Sunday’s game, marking his second consecutive absence. The rookie is resting an ankle injury that kept him out of Arizona’s Week 6 win (h/t Arizona Cardinals reporter Darren Urban).
The decision means the Cardinals will once again have to manage their backfield without their first-round pick as he continues his recovery.
Mike LaFleur said RB Jeremiyah Love will miss a second straight game on Sunday as he rests his bad ankle.

Walter Nolen is also out, as is Jon Gaines.
Love has recorded 245 rushing yards and one touchdown on 67 carries through five games. He has also caught 11 passes for 36 yards and another touchdown. His most recent appearance against the Detroit Lions was less productive, with the rookie finishing with 22 rushing yards on 12 attempts.
Without Love against the Rams, Tyler Allgeier handled 18 carries while Bam Knight received 15 attempts and recorded 80 rushing yards. Both backs could see significant opportunities again against Denver as Arizona waits for Love to recover.
Sunday’s game will kick off at 4:05 p.m. ET, with live coverage on CBS.
