The Arizona Cardinals have been inconsistent to begin the 2026 NFL season, but have remained competitive in a season that was widely regarded as a rebuilding year. The Cardinals recently snapped a four-game losing streak with a Week 6 win over the Los Angeles Rams and will look to build on that momentum on Sunday against the Denver Broncos.
At 2-4 and in third place in the NFC West, the Cardinals have struggled to establish a consistent rushing offense. Despite drafting running back Jeremiyah Love with the No. 3 pick in the 2026 NFL draft, the Cardinals rank 22nd in the NFL in rushing yards per game, averaging 96.3 yards on the ground.
Love was expected to make a major impact in the team’s ground attack, but his first season in the NFL has had some ups and downs. Love’s season has also been interrupted by an ankle injury that will keep him out for his second straight game after he missed Week 6 against the Rams. In Love’s five games, he has 67 carries for 245 yards and a touchdown, averaging 3.7 yards per carry.
With the rookie unavailable for the second straight week, the Cardinals added some depth to their backfield. The team announced on X that they are promoting running back Evan Hull to the active roster.

Hull has played in one game for Arizona this year, against the Rams, but did not receive a carry.
When Love was sidelined in Week 6, Tyler Allgeier and Zonovan “Bam” Knight handled the bulk of the workload. Allgeier carried the ball 18 times for 38 yards, while Knight was far more efficient with 80 yards on 15 attempts.
Those two are still expected to be the primary options against Denver, but Hull’s promotion gives the Cardinals some added insurance while their lead back remains sidelined.
