Cardinals' Budda Baker Earns Pro Bowl Nod
Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

Arizona Cardinals safety Budda Baker is heading to the 2024 Pro Bowl! He was named a starting safety for the NFC squad alongside Atlanta Falcons free safety Jessie Bates.

Notes about his selection for the Cardinals' media relations staff:

· "Baker was named to his sixth Pro Bowl and fifth consecutive selection at safety after being chosen as a special teamer during his rookie campaign in 2017. It is also his fifth consecutive year being named a starter at safety."

· "He becomes just the third player in Cardinals franchise history to receive at least six Pro Bowl nods in his first seven NFL seasons joining Patrick Peterson (7) and Ollie Matson (6)."

· "Baker also becomes just the third player in franchise history named to the Pro Bowl as a safety at least five times joining Hall of Famer Larry Wilson (8) and Adrian Wilson (5)."

· "He is one of just nine players in franchise history to be selected to the Pro Bowl at least six times. Baker joins Patrick Peterson (8), Larry Wilson (8), Roger Wehrli (7) and Aeneas Williams (6) as the only defensive players to accomplish that feat."

Baker is second on the team in tackles with 77 despite missing four games earlier in the season due to a lower body injury, which sent him to injured reserve.

More info on the Pro Bowl, which is no longer the traditional game:

"The 2024 Pro Bowl games will be a multi-day AFC versus NFC competition in Orlando, FL culminating on Sunday, February 4 with a flag football game at Camping World Stadium that will be televised from 1:00-4:00 p.m. MST on ESPN and ABC. The players will participate in unique competitions that showcase their on-field and off-field skills. The Pro Bowl Games will feature new and fan-favorite skills, with cumulative scoring leading up to the flag football game."

Cardinals TE Trey McBride was top ten in fan voting at his position but was not selected - George Kittle and Sam LaPorta earned those nods.
