The Arizona Cardinals were extremely busy on the trade front in the first round of the NFL Draft, moving back from No. 3 to No. 12 in a blockbuster deal with the Houston Texans, and then moving back up to No. 6 where they were able to select offensive tackle Paris Johnson.
One trade they did not make, however, was one involving star wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins.
And it seems like that may not happen at all.
Hopkins has been in the trade rumor mill all offseason, and on Thursday night Cardinals general manager Monti Ossenfort said he does not foresee a Hopkins trade at any point this weekend.
"I don't foresee that happening," Ossenfort said, via ESPN. "I don't know what is going to happen here in the next couple days. Right now, I don't foresee that happening, no. He's a Cardinal. We are moving forward."
Just a public negotiating tactic to try and drive up the price? Perhaps. It only takes one phone call and an offer to dramatically change things, but Ossenfort seemed pretty adamant that Hopkins is going to remain in Arizona at least for now.
Baltimore and Buffalo were two teams that seemed to be possible trade destinations for Hopkins, while Hopkins himself seemed to hint that he would like to play alongside Patrick Mahomes in Kansas City.
Kansas City could still use a wide receiver, but the Ravens and Bills both address pass-catching areas with their early picks on Thursday. Buffalo selected tight end Dalton Kincaid, while Baltimore picked Zay Flowers. That came after adding Odell Beckham Jr. in free agency.
