Cardinals HC Kliff Kingsbury 'in a good place' with QB Kyler Murray

Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray did his best to diffuse a potentially tense situation when he said last week that the well-noted February scrub of his social media accounts "had nothing to do with" his current employer or his public desires for a contract extension following his third NFL season.

Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury addressed the figurative elephant in the room while speaking at the league's annual meetings on Tuesday. He indicated any drama involving the two-time Pro Bowl signal-caller is now a "nothing to see here" matter.

"We’re in a good place," Kingsbury said of Murray, according to Myles Simmons of Pro Football Talk. "That’s the business side of it. I stay out of his things for the most part. But as far as our relationship, it’s always been great. And we see him as the long-term future and I know he feels the same way."

Early this month, general manager Steve Keim indicated the Cardinals will pick up the fifth-year option attached to Murray's rookie contract. That, of course, wouldn't prevent the sides from discussing an extension that could be signed at any point.

Remember, though, that the Cleveland Browns began the winter on track to have Baker Mayfield under center on his fifth-year option later this year but then made a blockbuster trade with the Houston Texans for Deshaun Watson. To borrow a phrase used by Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll on Tuesday:

"Things change."
