Cardinals owner wants to see Kyler Murray take the 'next jump' in 2021

The Arizona Cardinals went 6-3 to start the 2020 campaign and looked primed to make it back to the playoffs for the first time since 2015. Instead, they went 2-5 to close out the season and finish 8-8, missing the postseason for a fifth straight year.

There are several things Arizona can do to get better next season, and Cardinals owner Michael Bidwill said he hopes quarterback Kyler Murray will take another leap forward in 2021 during an appearance on Arizona Sports 98.7,

"I want to see the next jump," Bidwill said, via the team's website. "I think we all want to see the next jump. He made a big step forward between his rookie year and his second year. We really want to see that next level, and hopefully that's going to come in the offseason, where we're able to get together and see that development and the connection with his receiver group, with the offensive line. . . . I fully expect [improvement], and I know he expects the same. He's got a fire in his belly. We've all seen it. He's got a competitive spirit where he wants to win, and he wants to win now. I love that. That's what I want. That's what I expect, and that's what he expects."

Although he couldn't help lead the team to the postseason, Murray took a meaningful step forward in 2021. The 23-year-old completed 67.2% of his passes for 3,971 yards and 26 touchdowns against 12 interceptions. He also ran for 819 yards and 11 scores.

If he improves in 2021, like Bidwill expects him to, then maybe the Cardinals will make their return to the postseason.
