Cardinals QB Kyler Murray day-to-day with ankle injury

The Arizona Cardinals fell to the Green Bay Packers for their first loss of the season last Thursday, but more worrisome for Arizona than the result is that quarterback Kyler Murray suffered an ankle injury late in the contest.

Per Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, Jay Glazer of Fox Sports reported on Sunday that Murray has a sprained ankle that could cost him anywhere between one and three weeks of action. According to PFT's Myles Simmons, Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury told reporters Monday his QB1 is day-to-day heading into this coming Sunday's matchup at the San Francisco 49ers (3-4).

"We’ll see where it is tomorrow and then into Wednesday and then go from there," Kingsbury added about Murray.

Murray has been mentioned as an early Most Valuable Player candidate and, as noted by ESPN stats, is third in the NFL with 2,276 passing yards, fourth with a 110.4 passer rating, sixth with a 63.2 total QBR and tied for fifth with 17 passing touchdowns.

It's presumed backup Colt McCoy would start for Arizona if Murray can't go by the weekend.
