The Arizona Cardinals got a potentially season-altering victory in Week 5 over the San Francisco 49ers. Kyler Murray played one of the best games in recent memory for the mobile quarterback, and the defense got stops necessary to close out the NFC West victory.

The Cardinals starter made headlines on Monday, smacking a career-long narrative directly on its nose, with an announcement on social media

Kyler Murray announces partnership with Call of Duty

In Murray's announcement video for his recent partnership with "Call of Duty" on Monday, Actor Peter Stormare replaces him at a press conference. Then, he explains that Murray is not attending for the Cards because he's "practicing Call of Duty: Black Ops 6."

That's the next game in line for the franchise to get released. Check out the video below.

Kyler Murray's past with video games explained

Murray's contract extension was the true beginning to this intriguing story for one of the most exciting QBs in football. Murray has streamed on Twitch for years. He enjoys playing games, like Call of Duty, for fans of both football and video games to watch.

That being said, the social media world began to criticize the quarterback more often for his hobby when his extension in 2022 included an "independent study" clause.

That piece of the contract required Murray to spend time each week studying film. It was an ultra-specific ask for a player, who was already garnering questions about how much time he was working on his game.

That particular clause in his deal was later removed. Murray, on multiple occasions, scoffed at anyone doubting his commitment and work ethic due to video games. The entire situation gained steam on social media rather quickly in 2022.

This move was a funny nod by the quarterback to turn this narrative on its head after a big win over a division rival.

All this being said, some of you may still be interested in his performances on Call of Duty. Sporting News has a great breakdown of those statistics here.

Ultimately, Murray gets the last laugh in this unique saga that married video games and the gridiron.
