GLENDALE — Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray posted a Veterans Day message and offering his gratitude to service members past and present.

Murray posted the following message on his X account (formerly Twitter).

Murray’s grandfather, Master Sgt. Carl W. Henderson Jr., served in the military for 35 years in both the Army and Navy. Although he passed away before Murray was born, Henderson’s service to the country has always been celebrated by the Cardinals quarterback.

Arizona carries a strong veteran presence, especially in sports. Pat Tillman, a former Arizona State and Cardinals linebacker, served in the military after the events of Sept. 11 from 2002 to 2004 before he died in the line of duty. His story remains remembered throughout the Valley, not only for the player he was, but for the sacrifices he made to serve his nation.

Murray’s message may stray from typical sports content, but it is a genuine statement that resonates beyond the sports world. It reflects his upbringing and what it means to have family members who have served in the military.

There are things much bigger than football and Murray’s Veterans Day post highlights why.
