The Arizona Cardinals appear to be sending a clear message to other teams about the status of quarterback Jacoby Brissett.
Cardinals coach Mike LaFleur confirmed Monday that Gardner Minshew will start going forward after his heroics against the Dallas Cowboys in the team’s Week 8 victory. More notably, he announced that rookie Carson Beck will be Minshew’s backup, meaning Brissett is being demoted all the way to third-string status.

With Brissett clearly not in Arizona’s plans, a trade certainly seems possible. While he has not been particularly good this season, he has thrown for 1,719 yards with 10 touchdowns and seven interceptions. That would be an upgrade for some teams that are facing quarterback problems right now due to injury.
Brissett has 73 NFL starts, and there are unlikely to be many quarterback options on the trade market more experienced than that. Several teams, including the Baltimore Ravens, could be potential fits for the veteran.
Brissett is playing on a one-year, $15.5 million contract. Any team that traded for him would have no long-term obligations past the end of the current season.
