CBS Sports' all-bargain team further proves Howie Roseman's genius further

CBS Sports' Pete Prisco released his top 100 players in the NFL, with the Philadelphia Eagles landing 10 players in that ranking, the most of any NFL team.

The Eagles had six players in the top 50 alone and proved that the talent that walked away from the team was not as good as the talent that remains on the roster. Philadelphia's defense, which has faced questions all offseason about its youth, had four players within the top 100.

CBS Sports writer Cody Benjamin created his all-bargain team from Prisco's top 100 to create the best team possible within the NFL's salary cap. Benjamin took all four of the Eagles that were on Prisco's list and included him in the all-bargain team.

  • Jalen Carter (Top 100 Ranking; 17, 2025 Cap Hit: $5.9 million)
  • Zack Baun (Top 100 Ranking: 40, 2025 Cap Hit: $4.4 million)
  • Quinyon Mitchell (Top 100 Ranking: 69, 2025 Cap Hit: $3.4 million)
  • Cooper DeJean (Top 100 Ranking: 85, 2025 Cap Hit: $2.1 million)

This proves that Howie Roseman knows what he's doing

Some questioned Eagles general manager Howie Roseman's approach to this offseason. Roseman decided not to be as aggressive as he had been in the last few years and instead work with the young players on his roster.

Veterans like Josh Sweat, Milton Williams, and Mekhi Becton tested free agency and found better opportunities elsewhere. The team traded or released other players like Darius Slay, James Bradberry, C.J. Gardner-Johnson, and Kenny Pickett for younger options.

Those younger options also come at a lower cost for the Eagles, who have spent a significant amount of money over the years and now want to start saving for what could end up being an expensive next two to five years. Guys like Carter, Jordan Davis, Mitchell, DeJean, Reed Blankenship, and DeVonta Smith are going to command a lot of money, and the team needs to figure out how to handle it.

It's a significant reason why the Eagles decided to sign only 12 of their free agents to low-cost, one-year deals. They know their young, starting players are going to cost a lot of money.

Philadelphia has already taken care of its top talent this offseason, with extensions given to Saquon Barkley, Cam Jurgens, and Lane Johnson. The offense is mainly taken care of for the next five years, but this shows that the Eagles will take care of their players when the time comes.

Defense is next, and they will come at a high cost. Roseman understands this better than anyone, so seeing four great players on the all-bargain list shows that he can draft better than any general manager in the NFL right now. It's also a stark reminder of what's to come in the future.

For Roseman and the Eagles, that's okay. They understand what's to come and couldn't be more excited for the future of the franchise.
