Dallas Cowboys star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb missed last weekend's 40-40 tie with the Green Bay Packers after suffering an ankle injury in a Week 3 loss to the Chicago Bears.
Ahead of the game against Green Bay, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones suggested injured reserve was an option for Lamb and offensive lineman Tyler Booker given their injuries - which would mean missing at least four games.
"We're early in the season and you look, I mean I really would say that we got enough here to get this done," Jones said. "We got enough. We really do. But it is frustrating just not just for this game but the fact that you're looking at potentially games. That's frustrating. We're going to have players back though that are coming ... But yeah, that's a setback for us. Lamb, of course, is a real serious loss for us."
Ultimately neither player was placed on injured reserve and while they're both expected to miss this weekend's game against the New York Jets, head coach Brian Scottenheimer had good news on Booker and Lamb as they attempt to recover.
"They’re both moving around good. … I think the window is getting smaller," Schottenheimer told reporters on Friday, Oct. 3 while revealing their return might not be too far off.
Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer is not expecting WR CeeDee Lamb (ankle) or RG Tyler Booker (ankle) to play Sunday, but it doesn’t sound like they’re far from returning.

With Lamb out of the lineup for much of the past two games, tight end Jake Ferguson and new addition to the wide receiver corps George Pickens have thrived.
In last weekend's 40-40 tie with the Packers, Pickens racked up 134 yards and two touchdowns on eight receptions. Meanwhile, Ferguson is leading the team in receptions with 34 - sitting behind only Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua and San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey (both of whom have played an extra game) on the NFL's receptions list.
Dallas (1-2-1) is set to face off the Jets, who remain winless on the season after last weekend's 27-21 loss to the Miami Dolphins. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET and the game will be broadcast on Fox.
