Chargers, Panthers request interview with Ravens OC Todd Monken
USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Chargers and the Carolina Panthers have requested permission to interview Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator Todd Monken, as noted by the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

The Chargers and Panthers are among multiple teams that are looking to soon fill their head coaching vacancies. Los Angeles parted ways with Brandon Staley last month and called on Giff Smith to be its interim head coach for the remainder of the season. Carolina fired Frank Reich in November, and it penciled in Chris Tabor to be its interim head coach the rest of the way. The NFC South side finished with a 1-5 record under Tabor.

The Ravens brought in Monken to replace Greg Roman as their offensive coordinator in Feb. 2023. Monken was just coming off of a three-year run as offensive coordinator for the Georgia Bulldogs.

Monken anchored a Ravens offense that capped off regular season play ranking first in rushing yards per game (156.5) and fourth in points per game (28.4). He also helped Lamar Jackson put together an NFL MVP-type season, as the sixth-year passer tallied 4,499 total yards and 29 total touchdowns over 16 regular season games played.

The Chargers and Panthers will not be allowed to conduct an in-person interview with Monken until after the divisional round of the playoffs. However, they each can hold a virtual interview with him this week.
