The Los Angeles Chargers are shoring up their depth at wide receiver heading into Week 2.

The Chargers are reportedly signing veteran wideout Marquez Valdes-Scantling to a contract. According to NFL reporter Jordan Schultz, the move comes just hours after Valdes-Scantling wrapped up a workout with the team.

Valdes-Scantling, who began his career with the Green Bay Packers, played a significant role in the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl runs in 2022 and 2023.

Chiefs fans remember MVS for having a career-defining performance against the Cincinnati Bengals in the AFC Championship Game during the 2022 season. He caught 8 passes for 116 yards and a touchdown to push Kansas City to the Super Bowl against the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Chiefs cut Valdes-Scantling after an up-and-down 2023 season.

The South Florida product has struggled to find a home since then. He has spent parts of the last two seasons with the Buffalo Bills, New Orleans Saints, San Francisco 49ers, and Pittsburgh Steelers.

With Justin Herbert’s No. 1 option, Ladd McConkey, dealing with an injury, Valdes-Scantling gives the Chargers some veteran insurance.
