Kyle Pitts is one of the most polarizing offensive players in all of the NFL. Some people believe he is still one of the most gifted athletes at the tight end position, while other believes he should be chalked up as a bust.

For the Los Angeles Chargers, falling somewhere in between could be exactly what they need if they traded for him.

Chargers as a trade candidate for TE Kyle Pitts

Adding more talent at tight end would make a ton of sense for Los Angeles and Jim Harbaugh. The position was very inconsistent for them a season ago, and it is hard to imagine that veteran TE Tyler Conklin will completely fix that. Pitts is more physically gifted than any potential option for the Chargers right now.

For the right price, the Chargers could make a bold move and trade for the young TE to bolster their offensive depth this season and possibly beyond.

A to Z's own Kyle Crabbs recently discussed the Chargers as a spot that makes sense for Pitts if Atlanta chooses to trade him.

Why they should offer: Greg Roman has lost some of his shine but few play “heavy” personnel groupings better. Everything about the Chargers’ offseason has been “big”, too. Both Tyler Warren and Colston Loveland were on their radar during round one of this year's draft. Ultimately, they got neither and address the running back position instead. If they made a move like this, they'd be giving Justin Herbert a lot more upside in the passing game.

Pitts dealing with injury

The tight end is currently dealing with an injury keeping him out of practice, according to head coach

It remains to be seen how much this injury will hinder Pitts' overall offseason plan. If he can return to the field, that would probably increase the likelihood that he gets dealt.

We'll see if the Falcons decide to move on and if the Chargers try their hand at the former first-round selection.
