The Los Angeles Chargers just made a last-minute trade with the New Orleans Saints to acquire OL Trevor Penning , in exchange for a 6th-round draft pick in the 2027 draft, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Sources told Daniel Popper of The Athletic that this trade is pending until Penning passes a physical. He missed 3 games earlier this year with turf toe.

Taken with the 19th overall pick in the 2022 NFL draft out of Northern Iowa, the 6’7, 325 lb was drafted to fill the left tackle void left by LT Terron Armstead, who departed for the Miami Dolphins.
However, Penning struggled during his first three seasons at both tackle spots, prompting a switch to right guard this year.
The 26-year-old, who’s entering the final year of his rookie contract, has started in six games thus far and played 100% of the possible snaps.
He’s also committed five penalties so far (3 offensive holdings, 2 false starts), which was an area of concern with his overly aggressive nature.
There will be more information coming out soon as the situation is updated.
