Since joining the Chiefs in 2019, Mathieu has missed just one game — Week 17 of the 2020 campaign when Kansas City had already locked up the top playoff spot in the AFC.
The 29-year-old had six interceptions, one fumble recovery, 62 tackles and nine passes defended in 15 games last season. He is a two-time First-Team All-Pro with the Chiefs and a one-time Pro Bowler.
Before joining the Chiefs, Mathieu played for the Arizona Cardinals and Houston Texans.
Even if Mathieu doesn't play Week 1 against the Browns, the Chiefs are the betting favorite to win, according to DraftKings Sportsbook.
