The hype surrounding Mac Jones is real.
The New England Patriots rookie quarterback topped Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes in Fanatics jersey sales since Aug. 1, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. He ranked second in sales behind Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen.

It's quite impressive that Jones passed some of the NFL's biggest stars in jersey sales. However, he might not last long atop the list with the regular season set to get underway this week.
Players such as Trevor Lawrence and Zach Wilson could rise in sales with solid performances in Week 1 and beyond.
Jones was named New England's starter earlier this month after the Patriots released veteran quarterback Cam Newton. Offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels said shortly after Newton's release that the Patriots were comfortable naming Jones the starter because of his improvement and command of the offense.
The Alabama product had an impressive training camp, finishing the preseason 36-of-52 for 389 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions.
According to Odds Shark, Jones has the best chance to be named Offensive Rookie of the Year at +250.
