Chiefs Announce Triple Loss Against Cowboys

The Kansas City Chiefs took a tough loss on Thanksgiving Day, falling 31-28 to the Dallas Cowboys at AT&T Stadium. The Chiefs entered this matchup on a high after their 23-20 overtime win against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday, but all that momentum has now been thrown out the window after Thursday’s defeat.

The Cowboys, on the other hand, have now won three consecutive games. Dallas is on a roll right now, and it just ran through a determined Chiefs side during a nationally televised matchup.

To add to Kansas City's misery, they lost three players in the game. Head coach Andy Reid provided an update after the loss, and it does not sound very promising.

The Chiefs’ playoff hopes took a significant blow after Thursday’s loss. They entered the contest with a 52% chance of securing a postseason berth. However, now that they’ve fallen to 6-6, their odds have dropped to just 35%.

The Chiefs will now need to win all five of their remaining games to increase their chances of making the playoffs. However, they could potentially be shorthanded after three injuries sustained against the Cowboys.

After the loss, Coach Reid announced an update on safety Bryan Cook, offensive lineman Jawaan Taylor and rookie tackle Josh Simmons.

“Alright, got a couple of injuries here,” Reid said, via A to Z Sports. “Bryan Cook sprained his right ankle. Jawaan Taylor hurt his right tricep there. Had a strain of that. Josh Simmons hurt his wrist there. So, we’ll have to see how those things recover.”

The most significant of the three injuries has to be that of Simmons, who has played a key role for the Chiefs’ offensive line. The former Ohio State Buckeyes star has been a revelation for Kansas City this season, providing excellent protection for quarterback Patrick Mahomes’ blindside.

Unfortunately for the Chiefs, Simmons, who was their first-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, was reportedly seen in a cast and sling on his left arm after the game.

Injuries to Cook and Taylor would be significant losses for Kansas City, too, and the team will need to hope neither of their issues is serious.

The silver lining for the Chiefs is that they now get 10 days off before their next game. This should give their players ample time to rest and recuperate, assuming that the injuries are not significant.

Up next for Kansas City is a home game at Arrowhead Stadium for Week 14. They will host the Houston Texans on Dec. 7 in what will be a must-win game for Mahomes and Co.
