Chiefs Cut Defensive Tackle As Minicamp About To Open

Most NFL teams are currently holding mandatory minicamp, but the Kansas City Chiefs are still in OTAs, and their minicamp will begin on June 17.

But before that camp begins, the team has been making a few roster moves. In a recent report by KSHB 41 News' Nick Jacobs, it was revealed that the team had cut defensive tackle Siaki Ika to make room for tight end Kevin Foelsch.

The 24-year-old defensive tackle spent some time on the Chiefs' practice squad, but never actually played a snap for the reigning AFC champions. The only time he has spent on an NFL roster was with the Cleveland Browns in 2023, where he only appeared in four games.

But in his time in college, he showed that he could get it done. He racked up five sacks, 70 total tackles, and 11 tackles for loss with the LSU Tigers and the Baylor Bears. At 6-3, 335 pounds, Ika is an imposing threat on the inside of the defensive line, and he showed that with his ability to get to ballcarriers behind the line of scrimmage.

He will be hoping that an NFL team will see his promise as a young defensive tackle prospect and give him his first snaps in the league since 2023.

As for the KC Chiefs, their defensive line - led by All-Pro tackle Chris Jones - will be hoping to help them bounce back from their loss in the Super Bowl this past season to the Philadelphia Eagles.
