Chiefs Dealt Season-Ending News on Monday

The Kansas City Chiefs have turned around their season after a rough start. Head coach Andy Reid, quarterback Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs lost their first two games of the year, but have now won four of their past five, and have a record above .500 for the first time.

Kansas City shut out the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday, winning 31-0 at Arrowhead Stadium. The Chiefs' defense was phenomenal in the game, as the Raiders put together just 95 total yards on 30 offensive snaps. They also had only three first downs, one of which came as the result of a Kansas City penalty.

One player the Chiefs were hoping would help continue this defensive contributions going forward was rookie defensive tackle Omarr Norman-Lott.

Norman-Lott was selected in the second round of the 2025 NFL Draft by the Chiefs after he played two impressive seasons with the Tennessee Volunteers. The 23-year-old has played in five games so far this season with one start. He has totaled five tackles and one sack.

Against the Raiders on Sunday, though, Norman-Lott went down with an apparent right knee injury in the third quarter that kept him out of the rest of the game.

On Monday, NFL Network reporter Ian Rapoport posted on X that Norman-Lott will miss the rest of the year.

"#Chiefs DT Omarr Norman-Lott, their second rounder this year, suffered a torn ACL and is out for the season, sources say," Rapoport wrote. "The promising young lineman turns his attention to a full recovery for 2026."

This is a big blow for the Chiefs defensive line, which had been improving each week, but is thin at the tackle position. ESPN reporter Nate Taylor said that because of the lack of depth, the Chiefs were planning to increase the number of snaps Norman-Lott was going to play in the coming weeks.

With Norman-Lott out the rest of the season, the Chiefs will be even thinner at the defensive tackle position, as they look to win the AFC West for the 10th year in a row. Kansas City will take on the Washington Commanders (3-4) on "Monday Night Football" on Oct. 27 at 8:15 p.m. ET on ABC and ESPN.
