Kansas City Chiefs fans have witnessed their fair share of robberies, at least according to other fanbases. They stole wins from the Denver Broncos and Las Vegas Raiders at the hands of a blocked field goal and a questionable call, respectively. With so many close calls going their way, the Chiefs won 11 one-possession games on their way to an AFC championship.
While Kansas City was stealing games, one of its most famous fans was pulling off far more serious offenses.
Famous Chiefs fan Xaviar Babudar was sentenced to over three decades for robbing banks, per ESPN.
Babudar, known within the fanbase as ChiefsAholic, was arrested in 2023 after being released on bond and going on the run. He was sentenced to 17.5 years in federal prison. On Monday, he was sentenced to an additional 14.5 years in Oklahoma for “robbery with a firearm, assault while masked or disguised and removing an electronic monitoring device.”
"It was offensive to me," said Tulsa County District Attorney Steve Kunzweiler, via ESPN, "that a serial robber could victimize as many hardworking Americans as this guy did all across the country and only receive 17½ years from the federal government.
"My preference was for him to serve the rest of his life in prison. He caught another break today, but at least he's going to be serving some additional time, and my thoughts are with the victims who continue to be tormented by his violence."
The break Kunzeiler is referring to is avoiding life in prison, which the prosecution was hoping for.
In his ChiefsAholic persona, Babudar routinely attended Chiefs games dressed in a wolf costume and a Kansas City jersey. He was a fan favorite, popular with kids, and a social media phenomenon.
Babudar robbed over 11 banks for more than $800,000 according to an earlier plea deal.
He is currently 30 years old and is currently serving his initial sentence.
