Chiefs Had Pathetic Excuse For Blowout Loss In Super Bowl 59

The Kansas City Chiefs didn't just lose Super Bowl 59 to the Philadelphia Eagles, they were downright embarrassed.

The Eagles took a commanding 17-0 lead against the Chiefs in the first half thanks to a game-changing interception from Cooper DeJean. In the third quarter, Jalen Hurts connected on a deep touchdown pass to DeVonta Smith to give the Eagles a 34-0 lead over the AFC champs. While the final score was 40-22, just know it was never actually that close.

Fans noticed that Kansas City looked lethargic for the majority of the Super Bowl. Apparently, there's a reason why Travis Kelce and the rest of the squad were gassed before the opening kickoff.

Fox Sports writer Henry McKenna was told by a Chiefs coach that "Super Bowl fatigue" set in on this year's team.

"Before the game, a Chiefs coach told me that media members had been asking him if going to Super Bowls ever got old. And he bluntly told me: 'It does.' There was legit Super Bowl fatigue from this Chiefs team," McKenna wrote. "It was completely clear in the first half, when things escalated quickly."

Obviously, NFL fans aren't buying this excuse. They believe the Chiefs were simply outplayed.

"Doesn't sound like something true champions would say," one fan replied.

"There is no BS called Super Bowl fatigue They were ass all year Bailed out every Super Bowl with the refs They just got exposed without the refs calling back the posterboys turnovers," another fan said.

Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes didn't make any excuses during his postgame press conference Sunday. He said the Eagles were the better team, period.

"Credit to the Eagles man, they played better than us from start to finish," Mahomes told reporters. "We didn't start how we wanted to. Obviously, the turnovers hurt. I take all the blame for that. Those early turnovers swing the momentum of the game. They capitalized on them, they scored on one and they got a touchdown immediately after. That's 14 points that I kind of gave them, and it's hard to come back from that when you're in the Super Bowl."

Since drafting Mahomes in 2017, the Chiefs have been on the right side of plenty of Super Bowls. They don't have to make up an excuse when they lose.
