Chiefs Had 'Super Bowl Fatigue' Before Blowout Loss To Eagles

It's been almost a week since the Philadelphia Eagles dethroned the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX.

The Chiefs came into the game winners of the last two Super Bowls and were trying to win their third in a row before the Eagles crushed them, 40-22. The Eagles took a 24-0 lead into halftime and never looked back in the second half.

According to Henry McKenna of Fox Sports, one of the reasons the Chiefs lost this game was because they had "Super Bowl fatigue." They had played a lot of games over the last few seasons and they finally caught up to them.

"Before the game, a Chiefs coach told me that media members had been asking him if going to Super Bowls ever got old. And he bluntly told me: 'It does.' There was legit Super Bowl fatigue from this Chiefs team. It was completely clear in the first half, when things escalated quickly," McKenna wrote, via Fox Sports

The Chiefs got down big early and never recovered. The Eagles kept their foot on the gas pedal and took a 34-6 lead into the fourth quarter before allowing a couple of garbage-time touchdowns.

Now that the Chiefs lost, this will fuel them to return to the big game next year and win another title. They've won three Super Bowls during the Patrick Mahomes era and four overall.

If they win one more, they'll have five as a franchise and be one off the record, currently held by the New England Patriots and Pittsburgh Steelers.

Mahomes played terribly in Super Bowl LIX, finishing with 257 yards through the air, three touchdowns, and two interceptions. Yes, he had a positive TD/INT ratio but again, he threw two touchdowns in garbage time.

Despite the loss and performance, he and the Chiefs will be ready to roll for the 2025 season.
