The Kansas City Chiefs improved to 10-1 on Sunday after a tight, 30-27, victory against the Carolina Panthers.

With the game tied in the final minute, the Chiefs' offense drove down the field and were able to secure the victory with a 31-yard game-winning field goal by rookie Spencer Shrader.

Shrader, who joined the team just two weeks ago, was three-for-three on field goal attempts and three-for-three on extra point attempts. After the game, Shrader stayed gracious.

"I think the biggest emotion in that moment is gratitude, you know, for the opportunity and just happy that I was able to go out and perform for the team," said Shrader. "When you join an organization like the Chiefs, there's a championship culture and there's a standard to uphold. For me, I just wanted to come in and do my best for the team for as long as I'm here."

Although Shrader has played well, he will likely only start as long as long-term starter Harrison Butker stays on injured reserve with a knee injury. Coach Andy Reid acknowledged the big shoes that Shrader has had to fill.

"That's a whole lot of pressure for a new guy and he's in here replacing for us, right now, a future Hall of Famer," said Reid. "That's not easy to do in these games, and he did a great job."

Shrader and Kansas City will look to build off their win when they face the Las Vegas Raiders on Friday.
