The Kansas City Chiefs running back Kenneth Walker III has been named the AFC Offensive Player of the Month for September, the NFL announced Thursday.

Walker leads the league with 360 rushing yards through the Chiefs’ first three games. He has totaled 442 yards from scrimmage with 360 rushing yards and 82 receiving yards, with four touchdowns: two rushing and two receiving.

According to the league, Walker is the first player in NFL history with a rushing touchdown and a receiving touchdown in two of his first three games with a team.

The Chiefs celebrated the honor on social media on Thursday morning.

“A K9 kind of month,” the Chiefs said in a post on X.

The honor is the first Player of the Month award of his career. It follows an AFC Offensive Player of the Week nod for his Week 1 performance when he piled up 191 yards from scrimmage and two touchdowns in a 31-10 win over the Denver Broncos on September 14.

Walker, the reigning Super Bowl LX MVP, signed with Kansas City in the offseason after four seasons with the Seattle Seahawks, who drafted him in the second round in 2022 out of Michigan State.
